Michigan Top 100 Showcase Photos
TOP 100 SHOWCASE REVIEW Last Sunday boasted the 1st annual Michigan Top 100 Showcase at Eastern Michigan University. The showcase had 240 invitees at the event and it was definitely a packed house at EMU. MGBR is currently seeking out new venues to be able to accommodate the college coaches, spectators and fans in the future.
College coaches from all levels evaluated players at the event. Some games were also video taped and sent out to college coaches who could not make the event. NAIA D-II and Junior College coaches coached all of the showcase teams (NCAA coaches were not permitted to coach due to NCAA rules). As early as Monday a few offers were on the table to unsigned seniors and as early as Sunday night after the event players were already getting contact from college coaches.
All players who attended the Top 100 Individual Showcase were evaluated by the MGBR staff and will be considered for the MI vs. OH Border Battle on July 31 and other special MGBR invite only events in the future. In addition, each attendee who participated in the event will be included in future MGBR college reports which will aid in their college recruitment. The reports are only available to college basketball coaches and not the public. MGBR generally gives college coaches a rating, which is a general starting point for recruitment. All in all it comes down to the player performing on the court and fitting a future demand of a college program athletically and academically.
MGBR TOP 100 ALL-SHOWCASE TEAMS
Seniors MGBR All-Showcase Team
Laura Brunet tops the unsigned senior list. The savvy combo guard was committed in the fall and in the late spring made herself available again. D-I’s are on her heavy again and she should be off the board within 2 weeks.
Amber Brewster showcased herself well. Brewster, who is an unsigned senior who has slipped through the cracks thus far. Brewster boasts a high GPA and is open to all offers from D1 schools. Brewster is a 2/3 guard, athletic, skilled and finishes well in transition.
Noonie Doyle returns from Florida Gulf Coast University with 4 years of eligibility remaining. Doyle attracted the eyes of several coaches over the weekend and it is safe to say she will have a ton of options when she returns to Michigan. Doyle is a 6’1 solid forward who has a soft touch around the rim and has perimeter capabilities as well. A coach’s dream player at any level.
Morgan Luters. Well what can you say. Morgan is a diamond in the ruff. Played in the showcase on Sunday, offered a full ride by Tuesday.
Melanie Jaroch. She made a late decision as far as wanting to play basketball, but she has some very nice characteristics that rival several others who were early decisions in the fall. Very nice point guard, hard worker and has nice ball handling skills. Open to all offers.
Jennifer Johnston. Johnston is a pure shooter, very unselfish player and will do what is needed for the team to succeed. She is a coach’s dream as far as team play and work ethic. Coach Fife from Clarkston says Johnston is “one of the best pure shooters to ever come out of either the boys or girls program.” Open to all offers.
Emma LaBeau the sharp shooter from southeast Michigan came to EMU unsigned but with tons of options. LaBeau can shoot the tray from beyond the arc and is a strong team player and leader. Open to all offers.
Samantha Rando a savvy point guard, who plans to play out all of her options and see what becomes available. She is a true team player, sees the floor well, has exceptional passing ability from the point position. Open to all offers.
Olivia Yarrell – Yarrell, a scorer and natural rebounder, strong and very athletic is seeking college attention. One of the best players to come out of the Lansing area this year. Open to all offers.
